In the evening my girlfriend Chris and I went to the state fair for the Hootie and the Blowfish concert. The Barenaked Ladies were opening.
We tried a couple of so-so food things and will make some more informed choices tomorrow.
The concerts were ok. Barenaked Ladies have about 3-4 hits that anyone has ever heard of which they eventually got to. And then they started doing covers which were more entertaining than their own material. They are a good band. They could have spend the whole time doing covers and being silly and it would have been quite entertaining.
People seemed to really like Hootie and the Blowfish. I don’t really get the music. But the lighting was amazing.
They seemed to have a huge LED display behind the band. Huge meaning the width of the stage and probably 30 feet high. I didn’t know such things were possible. They had full motion video, graphics, stills and live and recorded video mixed together. It was an amazing technological feat through I guess pretty common these days.
Apparently I missed a bunch of tech advances. I need to go to more concerts.
