About

At the time of my surgery, I was 49 years old, 6′ tall, at a pre-surgery weight recorded at 244lbs.  I’m a white male, living in Northern California working in high tech.  I led a sedentary lifestyle working a lot starting a freelance business consulting/web design business.

I have been trying to eat well and generally don’t eat much processed food, lots of meat and vegetables and don’t worry much about fat content of food.  More on that sprinkled through the blog.  Like many, sometimes I cheat on food and tend to be a stress eater.

This blog chronicles day by day the events from my surgery through my recovery.  I expect it to go at least a year and be an aid to my own memory of what I went through.  It may also be of interest to my close friends and family.

If I’m able to provide comfort or useful perspective to anyone faced with surgery like this or recovering from open heart surgery, that will make me happy as well.  Do reach out to me.  I’m happy to go into more detail on some topics that I may gloss over on the blog itself if you ask.
