Day 36 – Bedtime Story

The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselSleep was interesting.  I’ve been heading to bed around 8 most evenings.  I’m just exhausted by then.  I read or watch something and generally try to sleep by around 9.  (Digression:  Last night was “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” on Amazon.  Somewhere I had heard something about it.  It isn’t what I expected and not really my sort of show on the surface, but it is really amazing.  The story, the filming, costumes, sets, lighting, everything.  Worth watching).  I fell asleep and then woke up around 10:30 or 11 and realized a finger on my left hand hurt.  It felt entirely like nerve pain which was weird.  And it wouldn’t go away.  So I got up and walked around and went back to bed.

And then a toe was hurting.  In the same way.  What the heck?  Did I take my pain pill?  I wrote down that I did.  Did I forget?

This is day 2 since I got my prescription refill and there was one left over from the other bottle that I put in.  So there were 31 in the bottle and then 30 after the one I took last night.  So there should now be 29.  This dialog is happening sort of slowly because it is now midnight and I’m tired.  And my toe hurts and I can’t sleep.  And I’m hungry.

So I get up and come down to the kitchen and get out a bowl.  Pour out the pills and count. 30.  Huh.  I count again.  30.  Huh.  Ok, so I forgot to take a pain pill.  That makes sense.  I update my pain meds log with a new time and take the pill and eat something and go back to bed.  And eventually sleep.

Woke up around 6:30-ish and felt ok. I’m hoping random annoying nerve pain isn’t a symptom of pain pill withdrawal.  I’ll probably have to deal with some sort of withdrawal though I didn’t have any when I stopped for those 2 days a few days ago.  I did have some withdrawal when I stopped using them so much when I was taking them 4 times a day (feeling clammy for a few hours).  Nerve pain when I’m trying to sleep as withdrawal seems like a particularly perverse drug withdrawal symptom.  I’ll let you know.

Stretching is still feeling good and I think my sternum region is feeling better over the last 24 hours than it has in days.  I’m still optimistic.

I learned some fun things about improving my Linkedin profile for business that I’ll start setting up over the next couple of days.  I reviewed some more marketing strategy articles in preparation for my client meeting today.  Other than that it is just another sunny day in California.

My client meeting was good. I think we identified some good areas where I can give them additional help with the operational part of their upcoming marketing program.  It sounds fun.  My right ankle is still noticeably swollen and I’m keeping it raised.  I’m going to more specifically keep it raised up and keep track of the ankle swelling and see if it will go down.
