I worked on a website for a new client and got it set up in my test environment for diagnostics. His existing sites are less messy than some I’ve seen but still have some curious issues. On his main site its an example where the original designer did a full custom home page so there is no way to change any text on the main page without hiring a programmer. I’m going to recommend he agree to pay to have me redo his entire site at some point.
In doing that, I’ll simply replace the fixed layout theme with something he would be able to edit by pointing and clicking on text. I have tools that make that easy and it wouldn’t be a lot of work to re-create the layout he already has. But it also won’t be free just because it won’t be many hours of my time. Expertise costs.
