Day 522 – Saturday

I drove to Berkeley to visit my daughter Catherine today. On the way I stopped at the farmers market to pick up some vegetables for her. Her birthday is tomorrow so I also brought her presents and the cake my mom had made for her.

She appreciated what I brought and we walked over to the Drunken Boat restaurant for brunch. (It’s called “Le Bateau Lvre”. Which translates as the Drunken Boat.) It’s a delicious French cafe. I had the eggs benedict and Catherine a different egg dish. We both had the chocolate coffee.

The place is such a delight. It isn’t trendy so no lines or crowds. The food is really good. It’s pretty rustic and very comfortable.

After we went to Emeryville for some clothes shopping and then I dropped Catherine back at her apartment. It was really good chatting with her. She appears to be doing well.

I took the long way back via Stockton since traffic leaving the bay area was heavy for the holiday weekend. Going back via Stockton was only about 30 minutes longer than the estimate route back via I-80.
