Had a couple of calls. Got my laptop backed up. Found I need a new 2nd backup hard drive.
I keep two separate backup drives here in California and two at my girlfriend’s house in Minnesota. I’ve become more paranoid about data loss as I’ve aged. I really should be checksumming the drives and checking for errors and data loss over time. I don’t recall that Apple’s modern file system design has any real support for checking for data corruption.
